PORTRAITS OF PEOPLE HOLDING OBJECTS
The majority of these portraits are of the Medici family and their affiliates. I lived in florence for a few years and studied art history- whilst living there and being exposed to the huge amounts of renaissance art in the city - something that I saw in loads and loads of portraits was that the subject were holding objects. These objects acted as symbols of the wealth and status of the subjects and sometimes clues from the artist as to the identity of the sitter. For my second shoot, I have thought about taking this idea but getting the model to hold everyday african objects that are familiar in SE15.
